Addressing this need, Fluke today announced the expansion of its Fluke iSee™ Mobile Imaging Series with two new professional imaging solutions: the TC03A Thermal Camera and ii01 Acoustic Camera for Android™ devices.

Together, the new cameras give maintenance teams the ability to detect hidden thermal and acoustic anomalies using compact, mobile-first tools that deliver professional-grade diagnostics directly from a smartphone. The TC03A Thermal Camera helps identify thermal anomalies, while the ii01 Acoustic Camera uses advanced acoustic imaging to pinpoint compressed air leaks.

“Professional diagnostics can no longer be confined to specialized equipment. They need to be available wherever technicians are working. Especially as maintenance teams today are expected to inspect more assets and prevent failures before they occur," said Vineet Thuvara, Chief Product Officer at Fluke. "This innovation makes advanced diagnostics more accessible, giving more technicians the ability to quickly identify hidden thermal and acoustic issues with professional-grade tools that fit the way they work today. This helps organizations shift from reactive troubleshooting to more proactive, data-driven maintenance."

Inspect More. Access Less.

Maintenance teams are under constant pressure to inspect more equipment in less time, often without shutting down systems or accessing hard-to-reach components. Infrared thermography and acoustic imaging give technicians a way to survey larger areas, identify potential problems from a distance and focus hands-on investigation where it matters most. Infrared thermography is recognized as a non-contact inspection method that can provide broad inspection coverage and quickly identify thermal anomalies.

High-Performance Thermal Imaging with TC03A

That ability to inspect without physical contact makes thermal imaging especially useful for assessing multiple assets or areas that are difficult, time-consuming or unsafe to reach. The Fluke TC03A mobile thermal camera combines 384 × 288 thermal resolution with SuperResolution up to 768 × 576 to provide detailed images, while manual focus supports inspections across a range of distances, from close-up electronics to equipment that may be difficult to access directly.

Identifying an anomaly is only the first step; technicians also need to understand what they are seeing and determine what action to take. Integrated with the Fluke iSee™ app, TC03A provides temperature-difference insights, multi-mode alerts and real-time warnings to help technicians quickly assess findings and make informed decisions in the field.

But not every maintenance issue reveals itself through heat. Some problems produce sound instead, requiring a different approach to quickly locate the source.

Fast, Precise Leak Detection with ii01 Acoustic Camera

The Fluke ii01 acoustic camera uses SoundMap™ technology to help technicians locate compressed-air and gas leaks, including in areas that can be difficult to access. With a detection frequency range of 2 kHz to 48 kHz and a detection range of up to 50 meters, depending on site conditions, ii01 can help technicians scan larger areas and pinpoint potential leak sources without inspecting every connection individually.

Once a potential leak is identified, technicians need information that helps them assess the issue on site. A one-key leak mode quickly highlights potential leak sources, while real-time dB readings provide additional diagnostic information to support follow-up inspection and repair.

Compact, Connected and Built for the Field

Whether technicians are looking for abnormal heat across a large facility or tracking down a leak in a hard-to-reach location, the goal is the same: find potential problems sooner, with less time spent accessing individual assets.

Both TC03A and ii01 are part of the Fluke iSee™ Mobile Series, combining professional inspection capabilities with a mobile-first platform to help technicians identify potential problems, prioritize follow-up and keep maintenance moving.

Key benefits across both solutions include:

Compact and rugged design — Lightweight, portable, and built with rugged IP54 protection for demanding industrial environments

Connected workflow — Integration with the Fluke iSee™ app allows for real‑time capture, reporting, and seamless sharing of images and data

Enhanced productivity — Faster inspections and intuitive operation reduce downtime and improve maintenance efficiency, complementing more advanced thermal and acoustic tools

Mobile‑first flexibility — Increase accessible of professional tools to equip front-line technicians with quick and fast inspection tools.

For more information on the TC03A thermal camera and ii01 acoustic camera, please visit TC03A Thermal Camera and ii01 Acoustic Camera for Android, respectively.

About Fluke
Founded in 1948, Fluke Corporation is the world leader in compact, professional electronic test tools and software for measuring and condition monitoring.
Fluke Study: 83% of UK manufacturers report maintenance delays due to unavailable parts

<pp:caseid>803806</pp:caseid>

UK manufacturers are facing a growing spare parts paradox, with 83% reporting maintenance delays due to unavailable or long lead-time parts, despite businesses holding significant levels of obsolete inventory.

Research from Fluke Corporation found that one in five UK manufacturers experience these parts-related delays regularly. The findings come against a backdrop of widespread operational disruption, with 68% of manufacturers experiencing unplanned downtime in the past 12 months.

Yet the data suggests manufacturers are not necessarily short of spare parts. On average, 22% of their spare parts inventory is already obsolete, highlighting a mismatch between the components businesses hold and those they actually need to keep assets running.

The result is a dual challenge: manufacturers remain exposed to operational disruption while simultaneously carrying the cost of inventory they may no longer need.

Supplier concentration could be adding to this exposure. One in five UK manufacturers single-source critical components or materials per region, while 32% identify supply chain volatility as one of the most likely causes of operational disruption over the next 12 months.

However, manufacturers do not see supplier diversification alone as the solution. When asked which change would most improve their organisation’s ability to withstand future disruption, just 11% selected diversifying or reshoring suppliers, while 14% selected balancing globalisation with reshoring.

Paraic O’Lochlainn at eMaint, a Fluke brand said: “UK manufacturers are facing a striking contradiction: maintenance teams are being left waiting for critical parts while businesses are already carrying significant volumes of inventory that have become obsolete.

“This isn’t simply a question of how much stock a manufacturer holds. The bigger challenge is knowing which parts are critical, where they are, and whether they will be available when an asset fails.

“The same applies to suppliers. Diversification can reduce dependence on a single source, but adding suppliers without greater visibility can introduce new complexity and cost rather than delivering genuine resilience.”

The financial impact of disruption is also being felt across manufacturers’ supply chains. More than a third (35%) identify cross-border shipping and logistics as posing the greatest cost risk from disruption, while 32% point to supplier unreliability or geopolitical risk. Almost a third (31%) cite downtime caused by a lack of serviceable parts or long lead times.

The findings indicate that building greater resilience will require manufacturers to connect supply chain decisions more closely with maintenance and asset strategy, rather than treating inventory and supplier diversification as standalone solutions.

O’Lochlainn continued: “Resilience isn’t simply about adding inventory or adding suppliers. Manufacturers need to connect sourcing decisions with what is happening on the factory floor.

“That means being able to see what they own, understand which assets and components are most critical, and anticipate what they are likely to need next. Without that connection between supply chain and maintenance strategy, businesses risk spending more on resilience without becoming more resilient.”

Survey methodology

The survey, conducted by Censuswide on behalf of Fluke, surveyed 600 respondents representing manufacturing firms across the Food & Beverage, Oil & Gas, Life Sciences, and Automotive industries operating in Germany, the UK, and the US. Of this sample, 199 respondents were from the UK.

<pp:quotes><pp:quote>

To address these challenges, Fluke today announced the latest release of CalStudio, headlined by CalStudio Conduit, a no-code workflow and integration platform that connects calibration data with hundreds of business applications. The new capabilities help laboratories automate workflows, reduce manual effort and improve productivity without the need for custom software development.

Rather than forcing customers into a single monolithic platform, CalStudio Conduit is designed to integrate with the business systems organizations already use. Customers can automate approvals, synchronize data, enforce business rules and eliminate repetitive manual tasks while maintaining the flexibility to tailor workflows to their own operations.

For example, CalStudio Conduit makes it easier for laboratories to automate common processes that would otherwise require manual intervention or custom software development. For example, when a calibration job is completed and a device is found to be out of tolerance, CalStudio can automatically trigger an email notifying the customer so they can take the appropriate action. Similarly, when equipment is returned from calibration, CalStudio can automatically update business systems such as SAP or Oracle with the equipment’s next calibration due date, eliminating manual data entry and helping ensure critical information stays current across systems.

The latest release of CalStudio also extends that focus on efficiency to the physical tools and equipment that support laboratory operations. Tool Crib addresses the costly, time-consuming challenge of managing shared tools and test equipment by giving organizations visibility into who has equipment, monitoring checkout history and tracking when items are due back. Developed in response to customer feedback, this new capability helps reduce misplaced or unavailable equipment, minimize time spent searching for tools and improve utilization of shared assets. Additional enhancements include granular location asset management for tracking equipment across facilities, rooms and storage locations, as well as usability improvements that simplify calibration procedure authoring and help technicians work more efficiently.

“Calibration laboratories are entering a new era where digital connectivity, automation and flexibility are essential to improving efficiency and meeting evolving business demands, said Vineet Thuvara, Chief Product Officer at Fluke. “Working closely with our customers, we developed CalStudio Conduit to help laboratories automate workflows, connect critical data and gain greater visibility into their operations. By delivering a flexible platform that works with the systems organizations already use, CalStudio enables laboratories to modernize today while building the foundation for the future of calibration management.”

New CalStudio Features Enable Smarter, More Efficient Calibration Management:

CalStudio Conduit: A low-code workflow automation and integration platform that connects CalStudio with hundreds of business applications, enabling laboratories to automate processes, synchronize data and eliminate repetitive manual tasks without custom software development.

Tool Crib: A customer-driven capability that helps organizations track shared tools, monitor checkout history and improve accountability, reducing the time and cost associated with lost or misplaced equipment.

Advanced Location Asset Management: Provides detailed, hierarchical tracking of assets across facilities, buildings, rooms and storage locations, helping technicians quickly locate critical equipment and improve asset visibility.

Enhanced Procedure Authoring and User Experience: Simplifies the creation and management of calibration procedures with a more intuitive interface, reducing administrative effort and helping technicians work more efficiently.

To learn more about the latest release of CalStudio, please visit Fluke Calibration YouTube channel or visit CalStudio Calibration Management Software.

About Fluke

Founded in 1948, Fluke Corporation is the world leader in compact, professional electronic test tools and software for measuring and condition monitoring. As demand for commercial solar PV continues to grow, AR Power needed to provide swifter maintenance while ensuring work remained safe and reliable. Its existing tools could not accurately measure the high voltages in solar PV systems, and a lack of wireless connectivity meant all data had to be manually recorded, a process that was both time-consuming and prone to errors.

Phil Armstrong, O&M Engineer at AR Power, says: “Our goal is to drive the adoption of renewable energy in organisations across the United Kingdom and support their transition to a cleaner, more sustainable future. The problem was that the measurement tools we were using were not designed specifically for high-voltage applications.”

AR Power recognised the need to provide its technicians with an essential toolset to perform tasks safely and efficiently in high-voltage environments. To do this, it deployed the Fluke 283 FC True-RMS CAT III 1500 V Digital Multimeter and the 283 FC True-RMS Wireless Current Clamp.

“Fluke has been a market leader in industry for test equipment for many years and is our go-to brand because of build quality and reliability of tools backed by excellent service from our Fluke representative,” Armstrong continues. “By integrating the Fluke 283 FC Digital Multimeter and the a283 FC Wireless Clamp into our toolkit, we have significantly enhanced our ability to deliver high-quality, safe, and efficient solar PV installation and maintenance services.”

The Fluke Multimeter provides AR Power with highly accurate voltage measurements crucial for precise frontline troubleshooting. It also ensures accurate, reliable, and repeatable results, enhancing confidence in measurement outcomes. When connected to the a283 FC Wireless Clamp, the Multimeter measures voltage and current simultaneously, automatically calculating VA power, which significantly streamlines AR Power’s workflows.

Both tools transmit measurements to Android and iOS smartphones via the Fluke Connect app, which provides operators with access to live readings and historical data from any location, enabling immediate analysis and decision-making. The software monitors data over time, helping AR Power identify potential issues before they become critical.

Claire Hu Weber, VP International Markets at Fluke adds: “We are pleased to support AR Power’s corporate mission to help companies and organisations reduce energy costs on their journeys towards Net Zero. At Fluke, we firmly believe solar and alternative energy are the future and aim to provide the tools that enable professionals to carry out their jobs safely and effectively. We are committed to the continuous roll out of tools and support for solar engineers at every level.”

Two key features of the Fluke tools that make them user-friendly for operators are the visual and audio polarity indicators and a user-defined limit gauge. The indicators are useful for quickly identifying measured voltage polarity, which is crucial for ensuring correct connections and preventing potential system damage. A prominent flashing red backlight provides a clearer warning than a standard backlight, meaning operators do not solely rely on an audible warning that could be missed in noisy environments.

Fluke’s devices have significantly contributed to operational improvements throughout the business and reduced the time required for diagnostics and maintenance. As AR Power continues to grow, it anticipates the need for additional devices to support its expanding operations and maintenance department.

###

About Advanced Renewable Power

Established in 2011, AR Power is dedicated to providing commercial solar installations to businesses and organisations across the North East. Because OSHA requires workers to maintain three points of contact when climbing ladders, the current method of carrying solar modules by hand creates both safety and compliance challenges. The Fluke PV Module Lift addresses this issue by providing a simple, reliable method for lifting solar panels to rooftops with an existing extension ladder.

"Solar installers shouldn't have to choose between productivity and safety," said Will White, Senior Solar Product Manager at Fluke Corporation. "The Fluke Module Lift gives crews a simple, practical way to move solar modules onto rooftops while reducing physical strain, supporting OSHA ladder safety requirements, and eliminating the complexity, cost, and setup time associated with traditional powered hoists. It's a solution that easily solves a challenge installers face every day."

Unlike traditional ladder hoists – commonly adapted from the roofing industry – the Fluke Module Lift requires no gas engine, electrical power source, or bulky equipment. The compact system fits easily in a service vehicle, sets up quickly, and costs significantly less than many powered alternatives, making it an ideal solution for residential and light commercial solar installations.

The Module Lift's patent module hook securely grips the frame of a solar panel to prevent lateral movement during lifting. Integrated ladder ramps help panels move smoothly over ladder transitions, while a built-in braking mechanism prevents the module from sliding back down the ladder if the lifting rope is released prematurely.

Key Benefits of the Fluke PV Module Lift™

Supports OSHA ladder safety requirements by eliminating the need to carry solar panels up ladders

Reduces worker fatigue and physical strain during rooftop installations

Sets up in less than five minutes by a single installer

Lightweight, rugged, and easy to transport

Compatible with existing Werner or Louisville fiberglass extension ladders

Requires no electricity, fuel, or external power source

Available with 60-foot and 80-foot rope configurations

For more information about the Fluke TMPV2 Module Lift, please visit Fluke PV Module Lift.

About Fluke

Founded in 1948, Fluke Corporation is the world leader in compact, professional electronic test tools and software for measuring and condition monitoring. Recent geopolitical tensions and continued pressure on global supply chains have shown how important it is for the UK to have the skills, infrastructure and industrial capacity to stand on its own two feet.

There are encouraging signs. The strategy has helped bring industry back into the national conversation, creating momentum around investment and workforce development. But many manufacturers are still waiting to see those ambitions translate into tangible support on the ground.

Skills remain one of the biggest challenges affecting businesses. Fixing the apprenticeship system is a start, but alone, it won’t be enough. Our research found that only 32% of manufacturers have hired or trained staff through government-backed programmes, despite 90% saying skills shortages are having a direct impact on their organisation. Closing industrial skills gaps requires a bold, integrated approach that brings together education, industry and government to rapidly upskill the existing workforce and grow the future one.

The same applies to technology adoption. If UK manufacturers are going to compete globally, they need greater support to invest in the tools and innovation that drives resilience. Rising investment in Generative AI (36 percent) and Industrial AI (35 percent) underscores this transition, as organizations move beyond pilot programs toward production-scale impact.

The research, conducted by Censuswide, surveyed over 600 senior decision-makers and maintenance professionals in the U.S., the UK, and Germany. The findings show that within one-year, reactive maintenance remained flat at 36 percent. Proactive maintenance fell from 55 percent to 45 percent while predictive maintenance adoption doubled from 9 percent 18 percent, signalling a shift from traditional preventive models to data-driven execution.

The findings indicate this transition is being reinforced by increased capital allocation. Over the next 12 months, manufacturers are prioritizing technologies that deliver measurable operational impact quickly. The data shows a clear shift toward pragmatic investment: nearly eight in ten (72 percent) organizations now allocate 16–30% of their maintenance budgets to new technologies, with investment moving away from exploratory AI (44 percent in 2024) toward operational priorities including cybersecurity (37 percent), data management (36 percent), Generative AI (36 percent), and Industrial AI (35 percent).

However, the data shows a growing disconnect between technology adoption and workforce readiness. The results point to a deeper issue, with skills-related challenges accounting for approximately 78 percent of all reported obstacles, including lack of expertise (23 percent), knowledge shortages (18 percent), skilled labor gaps (19 percent), and broader workforce skills shortages (17 percent).

As manufacturers move from experimentation to execution, respondents show that expectations around Industry 5.0 are resetting accordingly. Confidence in near-term achievement has declined: the share expecting completion within six months fell from 33 percent to 22 percent, while 40 percent now anticipate a one- to four-year timeline.

Instead, the data suggests manufacturers are concentrating on what is achievable now. Nearly half of respondents (49 percent) plan to advance connected reliability initiatives within the next 12 months; signalling reliability as the practical bridge between near-term operational needs and longer-term Industry 5.0 ambitions.

Parker Burke, President of Fluke Corporation, said: “Manufacturers are continuing to invest in digital technologies, but progress depends on how effectively those technologies are applied. Our findings show that reliability and workforce skills are now the critical factors in converting technology spend into measurable operational improvement. We need a solution to the skills shortage to supplement technology investment for the best results.”

Vineet Thuvara, Chief Product Officer, Fluke Corporation, added: “The progress is encouraging, but it’s not enough yet. Predictive maintenance is no longer a future ambition: it is the baseline. Manufacturer’s next challenge is scaling adoption and integrating it across the organization, ensuring these capabilities work in harmony across the organization, not in isolation.”

The survey, conducted by Censuswide on behalf of Fluke, surveyed 600 respondents representing manufacturing firms across the Food & Beverage, Oil & Gas, Life Sciences, and Automotive industries operating in Germany, the UK, and the US.

About Fluke
Founded in 1948, Fluke Corporation is the world leader in compact, professional electronic test tools and software for measuring and condition monitoring. Confidence drops further under pressure, with just 19% expressing full trust in data accuracy during peak load or failure scenarios.

Several factors are driving this lack of confidence in infrastructure data. Skills and training gaps were cited as the biggest barrier (43%), followed by time pressures during commissioning (16%), inconsistent testing processes (11%) and budget constraints (10%).

The operational impact is already being felt. Half of respondents reported experiencing unplanned outages or major performance disruptions at least annually, with nearly one in five experiencing disruptions as frequently as monthly (10%) or weekly (8%).

Outdated testing equipment is compounding the issue, with nearly two thirds (65%) saying legacy tools increase the risk of downtime and compliance failures within their organisation.

Speed vs. compliance trade-offs emerge

The research exposes a widening gap between intent and execution. While almost all respondents agree that regular maintenance is critical to reducing downtime, only 28% have real-time or predictive monitoring in place across critical infrastructure such as power, cooling and networks. One fifth admit maintenance is conducted quarterly at most.

Adoption of advanced technologies also remains limited. Just 10% have fully implemented automation, AI diagnostics or predictive monitoring, while many remain in pilot (22%) or early-stage (19%) phases.

Pressure to deliver data centre capacity faster is also creating new risks. Forty-two percent of respondents said time pressures create occasional compliance risks, while 17% said they make it significantly harder to meet evolving connector and certification requirements.

“What’s striking here is that organisations already know what needs to be done. There’s broad recognition that regular maintenance and better monitoring are critical to reducing downtime, yet in practice, adoption is lagging,” said Mike Slevin, Senior Field Director, EMEA at Fluke Corporation. “That gap between awareness and action is where risk builds. When testing isn’t consistent and monitoring isn’t real-time, small issues can quickly escalate into outages.”

UK readiness in question as AI ambitions grow

The findings also cast doubt on the UK’s ability to support its ambitions to become a global AI leader. Only half of respondents believe the UK data centre sector is operationally ready to scale for AI, cloud and hyperscale demand over the next five years.

Additionally, just 7% believe the UK currently has the infrastructure resilience and operational standards required to support its “AI superpower” ambitions, with 28% pointing to significant infrastructure gaps.

“AI is redefining the demands placed on data centre infrastructure. With higher-density architecture and increasingly complex fibre environments, multi-fibre testing has become paramount as the margin for error narrows”, added Mike Slevin. “If organisations can’t confidently validate performance under real-world conditions, they risk building AI on unstable foundations. The challenge now is ensuring that capacity is resilient and ready for sustained demand.”

Methodology

The survey of more than 150 global data centre professionals was conducted at Data Centre World London 2026. Each respondent was asked the same eleven questions surrounding infrastructure confidence, data accuracy under real-world conditions, operational risk, and the testing, monitoring and maintenance practices used within their organisations.

About Fluke

Founded in 1948, Fluke Corporation is the world leader in compact, professional electronic test tools and software for measuring and condition monitoring. Built on the trusted Versiv™ platform and integrated with LinkWare™, CertiFiber Max enables technicians to certify up to 24 fibers in under one second.

As fiber density increases and performance margins tighten; driven by AI, cloud, and next-generation digital infrastructure, contractors face mounting pressure to test and certify complex fiber systems quickly and accurately. Many existing tools struggle to keep pace, either limiting fiber counts or relying on fan-out cables and adapters that add time, complexity, and risk of error.

CertiFiber Max addresses these challenges with delivering faster testing, greater accuracy, and long-term flexibility through field-replaceable UniPort™ adapters. These offer native support for 12, 16, and 24 multi-fiber push-ons (MPO) as well as 16 and 24 MMCs (very small form factor multi-fiber connectors), including both pinned and unpinned configurations as data center architectures continue to evolve. UniPort™ adapters connect directly to a wide range of current and emerging connector types, protect tester ports from damage, and enable easy upgrading and replacement in the field extending the tester’s lifecycle, maintaining reliability in demanding schedules, and helping contractors avoid costly equipment replacement as fiber counts and standards continue to evolve.

“As AI reshapes data centers and the digital infrastructure they depend on, the margin for error in fiber networks is diminishing,” said Vineet Thuvara, Chief Product Officer at Fluke Corporation. “CertiFiber Max reflects our belief that trust in data center operations starts at the physical layer. Built on the proven Versiv platform trusted by thousands of certified technicians for more than a decade, it delivers native 24-fiber support giving teams the confidence to deploy and certify the high-density networks powering AI and cloud technologies at scale.”

As fiber density grows and performance demands rise contractors must test and certify faster, while anticipating higher density fiber counts and connector types such as MMC. Existing testers often struggle to meet these needs, either limiting the number of fibers supported or adding complexity with fan out cables and adapters. CertiFiber Max addresses these issues directly, giving technicians a tool designed for today’s data center realities and tomorrow’s requirements.

“MMC Connectors have achieved widespread adoption as AI data centers scale at unprecedented rates. Using high-performance TMT (three-row mechanical transfer) ferrule technology, MMC delivers triple the density of MPO connectors and offers mass-insertion solutions that accelerate deployment in today’s high-density networks,” said Charlie Stroup, Applications Engineering Manager at US Conec, a leader in providing passive components for high density optical interconnects. “As MMC deployments continue to expand rapidly, Fluke’s CertiFiber Max plays a critical role in supporting a robust MMC ecosystem, delivering reliable testing for next-generation AI networks.”

Designed for high-efficiency workflows in dense fiber environments, the solution measures loss, length, and polarity across multiple fibers in under a second while ensuring greater accuracy through the standards-recommended and manufacturer-preferred one-jumper reference method. According to David Newman, Manager, Group Products, Data Center Fiber at Panduit, a global leader in data center infrastructure, “Ultra-low loss standards required by AI, along with rising fiber counts and skilled labor shortages, are driving demand for faster, more accurate performance testing across the market.”

For more information on CertiFiber Max, please visit: https://www.flukenetworks.com/datacom-cabling/fiber-testing/certifiber-max-optical-loss-test-set.

<pp:quotes><pp:quote>

The findings reveal a silent crisis: more than half (55%) of U.S. manufacturers have been hit by unplanned downtime in the past year, reaching as much as $207M of capital impact per week. Downtime is not only frequent and prolonged, but also reflects vulnerabilities that threaten profitability, competitiveness, and board-level resilience.

The research, conducted by Censuswide, surveyed over 600 senior decision-makers and maintenance professionals in the U.S., the UK, and Germany. Among those affected, frequency is alarming: nearly half of U.S. survey participants reported 6-10 incidents each week; almost one in five (19%) face am enormous 11-20 incidents weekly. At the staggering average cost of $400K per hour, a single incident can equal up to $13.8 million in losses, or the equivalent of powering about 820 average factories for a week, 190 for a month, or one for nearly 16 years.

The impact is then compounded by duration, with 45 percent of respondents saying outages last up to 12 hours, while a further 15 percent experience incidents up to 72 hours.

At an average cost of $1.7M per hour, a single incident can reach up to $42.6 M in losses: the energy equivalent of powering 2,500 average manufacturing facilities for a week, or a single factory for nearly 50 years. These findings indicate that downtime is a recurring operational reality and a board-level risk to profitability and resilience.

On a global level, the risks are more acute within large enterprises, among organizations with more than 50,000 employees, 40 percent report experiencing 11–20 downtime incidents each week, and half (50 percent) endure up to 72 hours per incident.

This highlights an urgent need to accelerate strategies that reduce downtime and strengthen operational continuity. Despite the scale of the risk, however, the industry remains fragmented in its response. The findings show that U.S. manufacturers are scattering digital investments across multiple solutions to build resilience, including predictive maintenance (12 percent), digital twins (12 percent), and condition monitoring (13 percent).

Parker Burke, Group President, said: “Our research paints a sobering picture: manufacturers are caught in a cycle where downtime eats directly into competitiveness, and too many are stuck with fragmented fixes” he continued.

“The data makes clear that the frequency, duration, and cost of downtime expose systemic vulnerabilities in maintenance and reliability strategies. What once was viewed, as an operational inconvenience has become a risk to enterprise value. Without a clear path to scale digital investments, manufacturers' efforts risk being spread too thin to deliver meaningful resilience or return.

He concluded, “The findings underscore the urgent need for manufacturers to rethink reliability not as a maintenance issue, but as a boardroom priority critical to growth, competitiveness, and customer trust.”

<pp:quotes><pp:quote>
